About MCC
Madras Christian College, founded in 1837 as the General Assembly School, evolved into a distinguished institution under the leadership of Rev. William Miller, who established F.A. and B.A. courses. Renamed in 1877, the college flourished with support from faculty like Professors Skinner and Macphail. Relocating to Tambaram in 1937 marked a significant chapter, with Dr. Alexander Boyd’s transformative tenure. Achieving autonomy in 1978, MCC adapted to modern educational trends and introduced vocational programs. Dr. Chandran Devanesen’s appointment as the first Indian Principal in 1962 signaled a new era. The institution continued to innovate, introducing the Choice Based Credit System in 2003, and expanding its offerings with self-financed streams. Notable milestones include visits from dignitaries like Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Celebrating its 175th year in 2012, MCC unveiled the MCC-MRF Innovation Park, embodying its commitment to excellence and community service.
